Mysterious 'Hotspots'
According to science reporter Tom Howarth, "A new study has identified "hotspots" where temperatures are spiking far beyond what is expected as the planet warms, with some of the most striking examples occurring in the Pacific Northwest and southwestern Canada" (Howarth, 2024). Heat waves have been occurring disproportionately within the last 5 years. Maximum temperatures are starting to surpass projections by enormous margins.
Environmental Groups Fight Trump Administration
Several experts, lawyers, and advocates are making predictions on what Trump's environmental agenda will look like while in office. There is an expectation that he will focus on expanding oil and gas drilling. It is also expected that he will reduce the acreage of preserved federal land. He may repeal the Infrastructure Investment and the Inflation Reduction Act that were put in place by President Joe Biden.
