Join an Organization

Oranizations like Earth.org and Citizen's Climate Lobby provide education and training opportunities. Citizen's Climate Lobby has over 500 active chapters world wide so you can be a climate activist in your local area.

Write to Congress

Writing to your local and state government is a great way to show that citizens want to be heard. Advocacy can start small and in your local government. Attending town meetings can be the first step in creating a sustainable community.

Stay Informed

Signing up for climate newsletters keeps you up-to-date on any emerging climate policies. Newsletters like Week In Review from Earth.org and Climate Forward from the New York Times are ongoing weekly newsletters sent through email.

Donate

Donating to different environmental causes and organization supports those who are improving climate change. The Center for Biological Diversity has a list of actions you can support. The World Wildlife Fund, Rainforest Alliance, Founders Pledge, and Giving Green are all great places to donate.

Be Aware of Greenwashing

Greenwashing, or a company's attempt to overinflate its efforts to protect the environment, has become more prevalent in recent years. As consumers, it is our responsibility to investigate whether a company is trying to reduce its waste and carbon emissions. The documentary Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy, on our watchlist, excellently illustrates greenwashing and why it happens.
